If you are in the market for a new, large screen TV you have to put a plasma TV on your list to compare to the other choices available to you. There are pluses and minuses to each of these new large display monitors so be sure to do your homework and shop based on value for the money you will be spending, and then let your eyes make the final decision. You can read about the technology that goes into these high tech monitors until your eyelids are too heavy to keep open but at the end of the day, after you’ve decided on the amount you can spend on a TV and what features you want, you should make the ultimate decision after comparing each monitor side by side.

Additional Information To Consider

Briefly stated, plasma TV will give you the absolute best picture money can buy. However there are some disadvantages to plasma versus LCD or LED. On the positive side plasma picture quality is capable of much deeper blacks allowing for better contrast ratio. It also has wider viewing angles than LCD. Plasma TV monitors also have less visible motion blur due to high refresh rates and faster response time. On the other hand, earlier versions of plasma TV were more susceptible to screen burn-in and image retention and some of the gases used in plasma TV lost their luminosity over time, meaning that the TV would only function properly for a certain amount of time. They also use much more power than LCD TV.

The bottom line is that once your wallet gives you the okay, let your eyes make the decision for you.

My take: I was always concerned that plasma TV would eventually burn out and that I’d have to get a new one way before I wanted to spend that kind of money again. However, the new generation of plasma TV’s don’t have that problem, or at least it isn’t as much of a problem so I am much more confident now in purchasing one. I have comparison shopped for large screen TV’s and there’s no getting around the fact that a plasma TV image is more vivid than anything out there.
