LED TV is probably the most misunderstood of all of the new large TV monitor technology. Rather than using an entirely different technology to project images onto its big flat screen monitor, LED TV’s refer to the type of lighting, or back lighting that is used in a LCD TV. Many people believe that the better term for LED TV is really LED-back-lit LCD TV. Simply stated, LED is a flat panel display that uses back light illumination to project images. Rather than go on and on about what LED TV is, better to let you know that LED TV has to be seen to be believed and here’s are some of the most popular models and where you can find them.

Why LED?
This is a very good question and if you can get through all of the techno-speak and confusing product names and descriptions (do they really have to use encryption in the names of these things?) you’ll find that LED really makes a lot of sense if you are in the market for a big screen TV. Once you have decided that you’re willing to spend the money on a high tech large screen, then its just a matter of doing the research to find the HDTV that works for you. And you can’t go wrong with an LED TV. Here are just a few of the reasons to consider LED TV over your other options. LED TV will produce images with greater dynamic contrast and if that doesn’t grab you, these monitors can be extremely slim. Some screens are less than 1/2 inch wide. Getting back to techo-speak LED TV offers a wide color gamut when RGB-LED back lighting is used. They also produce less environmental pollution on disposal.
But as with all things that are improvements over the original, LED TV is a bit more expensive than LCD TV but perhaps you can make up the difference over time as they actually use almost 30% less power. Owners of LED TV consistently say that they are very reliable large screen TVs as evidenced in their incredible performance in consumer reports and electronics industry surveys.
My take: I honestly never understood the difference between LCD and LED TV and now I know that LED is just LCD with better, more advanced lighting used to create the incredible picture. Once again, just like with buying stereo speakers – which can only be compared by listening to them side by side – the only way to conclude if LED is worth the extra money is by looking at the same make and screen size LED TV and LCD TV side by side. And then of course, once you’ve decided, take a look at their respective price tags before reaching for your credit card.
